STC has successfully run the First International Forensic Workshop (FIFW2011) in St. Petersburg
June 27-29, 2011 the First International Forensic Workshop (FIFW2011) organized by Speech Technology Center took place in St. Petersburg. The main idea of the workshop was interchange of experience, knowledge and practical recommendations between audio forensic experts from all around the world. The special guests of the workshop that also made their reports were renowned experts, namely Dr. Bernardas Salna, head of Forensic Science Center of Vilnius at the Ministry of Justice of Lithuania, Dr. Cem Yuksel, head of Forensic Audio & Video Crime Lab in Ankara at the National Police of Turkey and Dr. Eduardo García, head of Voice Biometrics Department at the Ministry of National Security (Secretaría de Seguridad Pública) of Mexico. During the meetings there were discussions on many practical issues related to the preprocessing of speech audio records for the purposes of speaker identification. As the result of collaboration, there were made conclusions on pressing problems.

The Second International Forensic Workshop will be held in late October this year in New York City, USA. STC calls for applications.
